The RAF museum of Hendon

Le musée de la RAF à Hendon

These pictures have been taken at the Royal Air Force museum at Hendon, a former airfield near London. The museum covers all the history of the RAF, from the 1st world war to the future with a section dedicated to the Eurofighter. A very good museum, with movies, simulators and ... airplanes. Ces images ont été prises au musée de la Royal Air Force, à Hendon, un ancien aérodrome près de Londres. Le musée recouvre toute l'histoire de la RAF, depuis la première guerre mondiale jusqu'au futur avec l'Eurofighter. Un très bon musée avec des films, des simulateurs et ... des avions. In my opinion, the most interesting part of the museum is the one dedicated to the 2nd world war. Here are a Focke-Wulf 190, a Messerschmitt Bf-109 and a Spitfire MkV, some of the most famous fighters of the war.

A mon avis, la partie la plus intéressante du musée est celle dédiée à la seconde guerre mondiale. Ces photos représentent un Focke-Wulf 190, un Messerschmitt Bf-109 et un Spitfire MkV, quelques un des chasseurs les plus célèbres de la guerre.

In the excellent battle of Britain hall, there are a lot of very interesting things : the german bombers that were used during the assault on great britain in 1940 (Messerschmitt Bf-110, Junker 88 on left picture below and Junkers 87 Stuka on right one), an airfield ops room and other sceneries recreated.

Dans l'excellent hall de la bataille d'Angleterre on trouve plein de choses très intéressantes : les bombardiers qui ont été utilisés pendant l'assaut contre la Grande Bretagne en 1940 (Messerschmitt Bf-110, Junkers 88 et Heinkel 111 sur l'image ci-dessous à gauche et Junkers 87 sur celle de droite), une salle d'opérations d'aérodrome et d'autres décors recréés.

A large place is dedicated to modern airplanes and warfare, where can be seen a Phantom, a Harrier and a Tornado (picture below, with the tail of a Phantom in the background). Not easy to photograph because the airplanes are large and quite packed, but very interesting too.

Un grand espace est dédié aux avions et à la guerre modernes, où l'on peut voir un Phantom, un Harrier et un Tornado (image ci-dessous, avec la queue d'un Phantom dans le fond). Pas facile à photographier car les avions sont grands et assez serrés, mais très intéressant aussi.
